You might not think to go to the Chiropractor for a case of incontinence. Most people in northern Va, Manassas, and the surrounding areas might first go to either their primary care Doctor and/or a Urologist.
Having said that, number one: There ARE places in this country and around the globe, where many people WOULD think to see a Chiropractor for the symptom of Incontinence First, before seeking out medications. After ten years in practice, I can tell you that
Manassas is NOT one of those areas!!
AND, having said that, I can further tell you that I have treated TONS of cases of Incontinence in my career, with great results!
So, how is it that I have treated all these cases of incontinence, when nobody seeks out a Chiropractor for Incontinence in this area?
Simple. The patient came in with BACK PAIN as their primary symptom. During the consultation, however, they told me that one of their secondary symptoms was incontinence! Many, many back pain patients also have the secondary or tertiary symptom of incontinence. Most of them have no idea that Chiropractic care may help alleviate that symptom as well as their back pain, in many cases.
You see, the nerves in the lower back are sometimes “pinched” and that is sometimes the reason for inflammation in the back, leading to back pain. But, those same nerves also control the bowel and bladder. When they are irritated or inflammed, those nerves can cause or contribute to dysfunction in the bladder.
Women most often tell me that they have “difficulty controlling/holding their urine when they cough or sneeze”.
Men most often describe “difficulty starting or stopping the FLOW of their urine”.
Many times this symptom may not be what drove the patient into my door, however, when we start treating that patient, and their nerves in the lower back begin to calm, the inflammation is reduced, and then what happens is their back pain resolves.
However, during many many re-exams that I have done with patients over the past ten years, they commonly report that in addition to resolution of their back pain, that their symptoms of incontinence have also disappeared!!
So, did I “cure” their incontinence with chiropractic care? NO. I did nothing at all. In fact, I never set out to “cure” anything.
All I did is detect WHERE the nerve was “pinched”, and removed the pinch.
Then, much like taking your foot off of a hose, the energy in the nerve is unleashed, like water shooting out of a hose, and the body normalizes.
The body healed itself, once I helped to remove the interference in the nerve.
That’s how we have helped a LOT of patients with incontinence problems over the years. But still, no one here thinks to come see me specifically for incontinence, despite our track record!! And that’s why I do screenings and blogs and videos, etc. Because this problem is HUGE out there!!
So if you know someone suffering from Incontinence, tell them to get checked by a Chiropractor, first, and help them to avoid dangerous procedures and medications with dangerous side-effects.

Dr. Steve Lininger
