Over the past ten years, We have treated many types of work injuries in our clinic in Manassas. I would say that the most common injury that I personally have treated as a Chiropractor in Manassas would have to be lower back pain. We have helped many people over the years avoid dangerous back surgery after a work-related injury or fall with the use of Chiropractic, Spinal Decompression, and Class IV Deep tissue Laser treatments to the spine.
Recently, a man came in with 3 disc bulges in his lumbar spine. He had fell from a ladder in Manassas. He spoke very little English. Luckily, In my office, I and my staff all speak Spanish. His workers’ compensation adjustor was not wanting him to get a surgery, which is very common. We treated him for 8 weeks in our office with the Spinal Decompression and the Deep tissue LiteCure Laser and he was just fine afterwards.
He was even able to continue his work during the course of his treatments. The costs of his care were 100% covered by the insurance company and both the patient and the insurance company were happy to avoid back surgery.
These treatments are effective in many cases and are approved by the FDA.
Many workers comp carriers cover 100% of the costs of chiropractic, physical therapy, spinal decompression, and laser treatements.
This is one of many workers’ compensation cases in the Manassas area that we have treated this past year. Many other cases have had similar results in years’ past.
Filing a claim under workers’ compensation in Virginia can be tricky. The incident must be reported to a supervisor or human resources person immediately. At that time, the company is responsible for the cost of the care of the patient.
The company has the right to pay for the care directly, OR to file through their workers’ compensation insurance. Many times, the company underestimates the cost of treatment, and later decides to file a claim under their insurance policy.
As a Doctor practicing in virginia for over ten years, I can tell you that the workers’ compensation insurance adjustor is not on the side of the patient. They do not care about making certain you receive adequate care for your injury. In fact, the adjustor may work against you in receiving adequate care. When this occurs, it is usually a smart idea to involve an attorney that specializes in workers’ comp cases.
We have many relationships with local attorneys that specialize in work-related injuries that can help you stand up to the insurance companies and get you the care you need.
In most cases that I see, the patient has very little out-of-pocket expenses to utilize a workers’ compensation attorney to assist them in their case, as the attorneys are paid by the workers’ compensation board of virginia.
Either with or without an attorney, the patient is entitled to treatment for their injuries, and the treatment must be paid for by their employer if they were hurt on-the-job.
I’m Dr. Steve Lininger, and we look forward to serving you.
